My schedule isn’t very flexible right now, and it makes it difficult to sign up for packaged classes. Can I just schedule individual classes to take when I have time?

Yes, you have the flexibility to schedule individual classes that fit around your schedule. (More details)

What is the benefit of Connect2German over software like Rosetta Stone?

Language learning software, like Rosetta Stone, can be highly beneficial in many ways. However when it comes to putting everything you have learned together for real-world usage, having a live instructor makes all the difference. Not only can they answer any question you have (software can’t do this), they help you practice the language in an authentic way, testing you in unpredictable ways that mirror real language. Software often falls short int this department, and it’s the real-world scenarios and dialog that you will get with Connect2German. We allow to practice exactly like you will use the language in the real world.

What hardware or software will I need to get started with online lessons?

Software applications like Skype (free) are used for the audio/video portion. Additional software like virtual whiteboards are also used, and you are directed to them when you sign on for a lesson. Hardware you should have is a headset with a microphone and optionally a web cam for video. (More details)

Will my lessons be 1-on-1 with an instructor, or will I be in a group environment?

All lessons offered at this point are 1-on-1 lessons. We are in the process of developing courses that students can take alongside other students. To give us feedback regarding adding group classes, click here.

Who are the instructors, and what qualifications do they have?

All instructors with Connect2German are state certified teachers with credentials. They have experience not only in delivering foreign language instruction, they also must meet our requirement of experience and expertise with teaching in an online environment. Some instructors also have advanced degrees (masters and Ph.D.)

How are the Member Videos different than the Instructional Videos, and how do I get access to the Member Videos?

Member Videos are longer videos that go into more detail about the material. As extensions of the Instructional Videos, they complete the series on a given topic, occasionally offering short quizzes at the end of the video that students can use to test their skills. Some of the Member Videos also include additional materials, including links to download audio samples and worksheets that offer a summary of the topic. Find out how to gain access to Member Videos.

How do I unsubscribe from Connect2German or the Member Videos subscription?
