In reviewing various software, I personally have mixed feelings about Rosetta Stone and feel that its success rate is closely tied both to learning level (beginning, intermediate, advanced) as well as people's individual goals when learning another language (in other words, what they want to get out of it).
I hear varied opinions about this software, but never about the specifics. This makes it hard for me, as an educator, to really assess the quality of the software and potential success one COULD have. And because it gets so much attention, almost everyone asks me about it. I would like to hear some more opinions and specific examples of experience.
So, my request of those that have experience with this…
1. What kind of experience have you had?
2. What were pros and cons? (provide specific examples, like "speech recognition" or "pace" or "quality of vocabulary"
3. What has been the overall result?
4. Would you recommend it to someone else, and if yes, would you recommend it to EVERYONE?
I'm curious to hear the feedback, and I apologize if this sounds too much like an exam (I am, after all, a teacher)
