Germany’s Political Developments & Jazz: Music can also be a reason for unification

November 9th, 2009, Germany celebrated the 20th anniversary of the dismantling of the Berlin Wall, and even the BBC takes up the story to ask about the changes brought about on jazz through these political developments (BBC).

Berlin, being the hot spot for jazz in Germany, took the lead in spreading jazz throughout Europe. While the end of the wall marked the re-unification of Germany, their role in the unification of Europe through jazz is not to be overlooked.

How To Use The Lessons

Each lesson contains a video, a list of vocabulary and phrases with model pronunciation, as well as additional information regarding cultural norms and application. At the bottom of each lesson page, you will also find a link to download the vocabulary list as well as an audio file that contains the pronunciation for the vocabulary and phrases.

To get the most out of the lessons, we encourage you to revisit the vocabulary and pronunciation as well as the examples we have given for the application toward real situation. Depending on your prior knowledge of German and your level, this might mean studying and revisiting a lesson over the course of a week. This is normal, as the most difficult part of learning a language is active speech.

We have designed these lessons to work in conjunction with our Live 1-on-1 audio/video conferences. The material you learn and practice can be applied right away, talking live with our teachers online. Once you have practiced, and you believe you are ready to try a lesson out with out teachers online, simply book an appointment.
